Welcome to the official website of The West Village, a development of 112 freehold homes near the intersection of Island Park and Scott in Ottawa, Ontario.

The West Village is a co-tenancy association.  Our homes are freeholds, which means owners are solely responsible for the upkeep of their home and property. However, owners are jointly responsible for the common property, which consists of the roads, the electrical, water and sewer services beneath them, fire hydrants and lighting, and the forested area and sidewalk on the west side of the main entrance.

Owners elect a co-tenancy committee at an annual general meeting held in May or June each year. The committee members, who serve on a voluntary basis, oversee and maintain the common property on behalf of owners and collect the funds required to do so. An important part of the committee's job is to ensure that adequate money is set aside in a reserve fund to cover major repairs in future.

All of this is spelled out in the Reciprocal Agreement that all owners must sign when they purchase property in The West Village. To access a copy of the agreement, click here.
